Released in 2001, the two, 348-passenger Norwegian Star was the very first NCL ship custom made for Freestyle Cruising, NCL's anti-traditionalist program that touts an array of dining, cabin and entertainment options.
The ship boasts 11 restaurants, including venues serving Tex-Mex, Japanese and French cuisine, and eight bars and lounges (try outdoors-air Bier Garten). Using the Freestyle mantra, public spaces vary from intimate to exuberant, supplying a number of spots for activities and entertainment day and evening. You will find also a lot of hotels, from standard inside cabin rentals towards the enormous 6, 694-square-foot., three-bed room Garden Villas.
Star was refurbished in Feb 2010 in Victoria, Bc. The 2-week dry-pier focused totally on cosmetic improvements (carpets, upholstery, etc.) and engineering work, however the line also added numerous 54 cabin rentals and suites, that has been enhanced Star's spaces for children.

I've been in those suites. The family suites on 12 are nice, but I preferred the balcony penthouse suites next door. The SC 2 bd suites on 11 would be great, but are more expensive. If prices change, or they have a $99 sale for 4th & 5th passengers, I would snag one of those.
If the 1 bath is a problem, for example if 3 of those 5 are teens, go for the 2 rooms. if not, go for the suite perks.

I've stayed in an AE category which is identical. They are really great cabins and are aft facing which is really the best location on the ship, the balcony is bigger (deeper).
