Belting out "Simply By Myself" inside a private karaoke room is not my concept of an enjoyable Tuesday mid-day at ocean. As practically the only real single parent around the ship, it did appear just a little melodramatic, too. But, the kids - Lauren (11) and Joel (9) - had discovered the Whatever rooms in Norwegian Jewel's Fyzz Lounge, where one can enjoy free, private karaoke or Manufacturers Wii to have an hour at any given time. I reserved a 12-day Baltic Capitals cruise on Norwegian Jewel for several reasons. To begin with, you will find a lot of foreign currencies: British pound (because the ship leaves from Dover), Danish kroner, Pounds in Germany and Finland, kroons in Estonia, more kroner in Sweden and roubles in Russia. You are able to offer dollars or Pounds in almost any country, but you'll get change from our currency, that is completely useless once you have left port.

Another challenge is within packing. Weather broadly varies with blazing sunshine in Copenhagen, dampness and drizzle in Tallinn 2 days later, and thunderstorms and ferocious humidity in Russia. You certainly need walking footwear for that uneven, cobbled roads and warm clothes for windy days crossing its northern border Ocean. Thank heavens for that friendly porters at Dover.

Then there have been the timezones! We entered three in route as much as St. Petersburg and three in route back. Using the late nights - we visited the majority of the shows - the kids were practically catatonic when we've got to Russia, progressively restoring their energy around the journey back west and getting out of bed unspeakably early through the last day.
